Goofs section: Protestants don't go to church on Sunday?
[edit]Protestants go to church on Sunday to, and Episcopals (which Lois's WASPy parents probably are) among others have real wine at Communion -Madison 71.12.191.90 20:45, 14 October 2007 (UTC)
- Sorry, I don't understand what you mean? Protestants and Catholics are both Christians -- same bible, same lord/savior, same holy day (Sunday). And as far as I know, all Christian churches (Catholic, Protestant, or otherwise) use wine for the transubstantiation part of Holy Communion -- unless they cannot afford to, or the specific pastor or congregation chooses to use some substitute liquid (typically fruit juice). And I'm still trying to see how this all bears relevance to this Family Guy episode? Piercetheorganist 02:54, 15 October 2007 (UTC)
I'm not entirely sure what Madison's original point was either, but traditionally Catholic parishioners are not given the wine, because they are taught that the wine actually turns to blood and to preserve this, for lack of a better term, illusion, only the priest may drink the wine. Most Protestants eschew this practice, treating the wafers and wine as symbols of the body and blood, and allow their parishioners to drink the wine. Justin The Claw (talk) 08:23, 27 September 2010 (UTC)
- Wow, nice try, but the actual reason they aren't given the wine nowadays has nothing to do with a fear of an "illusion" being exposed. Try checking out the Transubstantiation article for some of the history of this particular dogma. 134.173.12.216 (talk) 10:04, 12 August 2011 (UTC)
Simpson's Reference?
[edit]Is the scene were Peter milks the cow which moo's in an orgasmic behaviour, a copy from The Simpsons Treehouse of Horror XIII, where Ned Flanders get turned into a cow-centaur and needs to be milked? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by MidnightOverlord (talk) 10:40, May 5, 2007 (UTC)
- No. The Orgasmic Cow is a recurring minor character on Family Guy, always making references to homosexuality (via characteristic stereotypical behaviors and speech), and usually to S&M (i.e. the getting milked thing in this episode, and getting branded with a hot iron in another episode, etc.). Piercetheorganist 02:46, 15 October 2007 (UTC)
Plot Summary
[edit]According to tv.yahoo.com as of today, this episode will air next Sunday, and gives the following plot summary:
- "The family heads to church when Lois gets a gig as the organist, but after Stewie gets sick, the congregation is convinced he is possessed by the devil. Therefore, the family goes on the run and ends up in Texas. Peter fits right in with the cowboys, Stewie enters the "Little Miss Texas" pageant and Chris and Meg sneak into George W. Bush's house."
This seems to imply that they will specifically go to Crawford, Texas. Of course we will show restraint and wait until the episode airs before adding any of this to the article. ShutterBugTrekker 21:39, 22 April 2007 (UTC)
Brian on Texas
[edit]Even though Brian hates living in Texas, he was born there. See Road to Rhode Island.
were there even any examples of racism in the Texan characters, or is it another example of Brian's "holier than thou" attitude? Mullhawk (talk) 08:19, 17 December 2007 (UTC)
- There were homophobics. Isn't that basically the same principle? Also, to distract the Texan crowd, Brian calls out "Look over there! It's a newly married, INTERRACIAL gay couple burning the American flag!" —Preceding unsigned comment added by Justin The Claw (talk • contribs) 08:28, 27 September 2010 (UTC)
Copyright Violation
[edit]I have removed a link placed by 89.1.172.34 to the full episode, as I believe this violates copyright. FlamingGoldFish 18:54, 10 May 2007 (UTC)
title
[edit]what gives the episode it's name? is there anything in the episode that is about boys crying
The Cure
[edit]Could also the title be taken from the Cure song "Boys Don't Cry"?
- I think this as well. Leemorrison (talk) 01:01, 7 September 2009 (UTC)
- I was just thinking the same thing. Is there any way we can confirm this? Justin The Claw (talk) 07:38, 11 July 2010 (UTC)
removing the notes about Stewie
[edit]I find them kind of trivial and completely unnecessary.
Vaginas
[edit]Surely Stewie's comment about weight going to his vagina an illustration of his youth, thus being ignorant of how what an adult female would worry about? Unless gay men never speak to women. Optimus Sledge 04:10, 14 July 2007 (UTC)
"There is No Way"
[edit]Can anyone tell me what the part where they interview the one guy about his feelings on the Super Devil and such and he says something along the lines of: "I was totally going to bone my girlfriend and then...and she was like there is no WHEY (thats what it sounds like when he says it). Is this a reference to anything? Anyone? Angel of Anubis 00:40, 17 October 2007 (UTC)
yeah; i was curious as well. its a bloody peculiar accent he has- where is it from or supposed to be from? (given that he's a local man, perhaps thats what rhode islanders sound like, but not being from the US i have no idea)
-The dialect in question is known as "Yooper" and is coomonly fouund around the upper coast of Lake Michigan, principally in northern Michigan and northern and eastern Wisconsin. Its distinct features are derived mostly from German, Dutch, Canadian French, and the Scandinavian languages (particularly Finnish).Jeremicus rex (talk) 01:20, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:FGBoysDoCry.jpg
[edit]Image:FGBoysDoCry.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Trivia/Cultural references section
[edit]Removed due to being WP:TRIVIA and completely unsourced. If a 'cultural reference' is notable enough, it should have sources. DP76764 (Talk) 15:17, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
Sneakers O'Toole
[edit]Shouldn't there be a mention of Sneakers O'Toole? There's an article for him which redirects to this article. He gets 83,000 hits on Google, largely it seems from people trying to find out what the scene is a reference to and what it means. After detailed and pointless research, it seems the answers to both are "nothing". If I could find a decent reference for this I'd add it, but I can't. 87.80.97.137 (talk) 11:38, 22 May 2010 (UTC)

- I have gone off and passed the article to GA, as I did not find anything troubling while reading the article, but I did fix a couple of things. I would like to thank Gage for doing a fine job with describing the background and stuff as I believe this was a funny episode. Congratulations on the hard effort. If you feel that this review is in error, feel free to take it to a GA review.

HUH?!
[edit]Is it just me, or does this line make no sense?
"The episode was written by Cherry Chevapravatdumrong and was directed by Brian Iles, in his each of their respective first episode for the series."
...in his each of their respective... huh? Maybe I'm just reading it wrong, but I think it makes no sense. Indy (talk) 00:34, 3 November 2011 (UTC)
- The line makes sense if you take out the "his" and add an "s" towards the end. I.e, "The episode was written by Cherry Chevapravatdumrong and was directed by Brian Iles, in each of their respective first episodes for the series."
- Meaning that the show was the first to be written by Chevapravatdumrong and the first to be directed by Iles in the 5th season. Jmsfruitison (talk) 16:21, 9 April 2012 (UTC)
GA Reassessment
[edit]- This discussion is transcluded from Talk:Boys Do Cry/GA2. The edit link for this section can be used to add comments to the reassessment.
- Again, lots of unsourced claims in the 'Cultural References' section, aswell as a few in the 'Production' section. The guest stars part in the infobox is not fully complete, nor are the references fully made out. Reference 4 is also not correct, as you can probably see. Also, just wondering, but how does the image reflect the whole episode?
On hold for 7 days, if the actions are completed in that time, I will do a full re-assessment. MayhemMario 16:57, 29 February 2012 (UTC)
