Dutch borg
[edit](cf Danish, Swedish, Dutch and Icelandic borg) the word exists in Dutch, but its meaning is only law caution [security, bail], deposit, not Swedish...borg = German...Burg, castle. In the good old days in Europe, you wouldn't call a town "deposit". --Schwab7000 (talk) 09:45, 15 August 2013 (UTC)
French -bourg has the same vowel as German Burg, a different vowel to the /o/ in borg, so it seems the closest to the German word, also for its meaning. (In phonetics, a vowel is a sound in spoken language.)
and Icelandic borg
Kastali is Icelandic “bourg”, Burg, castle. Icelandic borg is city, like places ending -borough have developed to become cities. --Schwab7000 (talk) 09:56, 15 August 2013 (UTC)
