  • General
This article seems a bit short on content (I seem to recall it having received a lot of coverage?). If you tried, I'll take your word that it's what you could find
Not really an incredible amount, it is not pop music after all. STATic message me! 07:03, 23 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I don't find PopDust reliable - especially for GA -
Same for PopCrush/YouTube/Dropout UK
Done. STATic message me! 07:03, 23 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
A lot of reference inconsistencies. Complex/'XXL -> Xxlmag.com/Nme.com/ etc. Many issues.
@Petergriffin9901: Squeaky clean now. STATic message me! 07:03, 23 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Lead

  • Still inconsistencies. Compare 10, 11 & 25 (same source, different every time), 12 & 16, 36 & 37 are lacking parameters. Also, either link work & publisher in every source or just in first appearance
  • I'd link hip-hop in the lead as well. Definitely link soul (vocals too)
  • I think it should be introduced as the album's second single before listing it as tenth and final song. The latter seems a bit superfluous.
  • I believe that its status as a single should not be introduced in the first sentence, I have seen this not done in many GAs and it is not really needed. I did remove the part about it being the tenth song, but its role as the final track is more important, something reviewers mentioned comparing its song to the album as a whole. STATic message me! 00:01, 28 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • I'm a little confused. West had Wilson come and record the vocals, or he just sampled Wilson's vocals from a previously released recording?
  • How is it confusing? The text states that it features vocals (they were new, no sample credit) by Wilson, and then it also song samples other people. The samples he used were also soul in nature, he just also featured Wilson on the song. STATic message me! 00:01, 28 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Incorporates samples - and primary samples -> a bit repetitive
  • That sentence is a bit jumbled/run-on/confusing
  • Then fiancee ;) Lol
  • riding on a motorbike with Kanye West -> West will do just fine
  • The date at the end reads a bit run-on
  • its soul sample-based production -> soul sample? I get you but it's not that proper
  • West's early work from his debut studio album The College Dropout. -> early work is kind of redundant. Also, indicate "(2004)"

Background

  • Don't refer to him as Kanye West
  • Link cover
  • a 13-second snippet of "Bound 2", a track from the album. -> a bit awkward. I also don't think the latter part is necessary
  • At that point, it had been one of only three songs that had snippets released prior to the album's release, -> awkward prose
  • heavy soul music samples -> what does that mean, heavy soul music?
  • which recalls the sound of West's early work -> if only to TCD, that should be indicated. Recalls the sound is kind of awkward as well. Maybe "Bound 2 features prominent soul-music samples, which critics noted as reminiscent of West's production style on his debut album, TCD (2004). Or something of that sort (maybe 'hearkens back to West's production on his [..])
  • "Bound", a 1971 song by American soul group Ponderosa Twins Plus One from their album 2 + 2 + 1 = Ponderosa Twins Plus One, serves as the primary sample used in West's track -> This [..], [..], [...] style of writing is awkward. Perhaps "Bound 2 is predominantly built around a sample taken from soul-group Ponderosa's 1971 album, [..]
  • Samples from "Aeroplane (Reprise)", written by Norman Whiteside and performed by Wee, are also used. -> awkward. Also, I don't think it should be samples
  • samples, samples, samples -> these lines read awkwardly and comes off as repetitious. Consider switching it up a bit as recommended.
  • Reacted positively?

Release

  • In August 2013, "Bound 2" was reported to be the -> It was reported? You mean his management released it...
  • from Yeezus, following "Black Skinhead". -> unnecessary. Also, this sentence uses that comma, comma, comma format in the worst way
  • It was later sent to radio in the United Kingdom on August 28, 2013. -> why also?
  • While he was there he performed -> bad
  • for the first time publicly -> This sentence needs restructuring
  • Male children's choir
  • Try starting the sentence other than "West and Wilson"
  • Indicate British [...]
  • Taking a slightly more minimal approach than the previous performance, they were accompanied by no more than the song's signature Ponderosa Twins sample and a brief piano intro -> poor
  • link GOOD Music
  • premiered an alternative version of the song, during a live performance in the UK -> comma is unnecessary
  • It defers from the original by featuring more piano chords, some modified lyrics and a new outro -> chords, lyrics & outro could use linking

Reception

  • Rolling Stone said, "Bound 2" is "maybe the most audacious song he's ever written, not to mention the most beautiful." -> RS described it/the song/Bound 2 as the most [..]
  • and wrote that it "stands out as a love song—a dark, twisted fantasy of a love song, perhaps, but one that's beautiful in its own way. -> and wrote "[..]". I think d, t fantasy is a play on his album. Link perhaps?
  • "an overt homage to West's bright early production, reimagining The College Dropout's cheerful chipmunk soul through the blurting, minimalist lens of his new muses." -> a bit long. consider paraphrasing or reducing
  • XXL positioned it at number 17 on their list of the best songs of 2013. They said, "On an album that made a lot of people initially say, "What the hell is Kanye doing?", "Bound 2" showed the doubters that he could still give them the soul-soaked laments that everyone wanted, he just decided not to. But that doesn't mean this song is a throwaway—the video might be more of one than the song itself—this is Kanye's introspection colliding with his self-doubt in a way that is eminently relatable to anyone with a pulse." -> very lengthy. Consider a box quote or something of that nature
  • NME ranked "Bound 2" at number 22 on their list of the 50 best songs of 2013. They commented saying, "in Kanye's mind this is what constituted a pop song: sped up '70s soul samples, a totally unconventional structure and lyrical gems." -> NME ranked "Bound 2" at number 22 on their list of the 50 best songs of 2013; "in Kanye's mind this is what constituted a pop song: sped up '70s soul samples, a totally unconventional structure and lyrical gems."
  • Positioned, positioned - they commented, they commented

Rest

  • West
  • premiering, premiered
  • riding on a motorbike with West through Monument Valley and other landscapes. -> riding atop West's motorbike etc.
  • I find it hard to believe you couldn't find any reviews (particularly negative) on the video. Last I recalled it was heavily ridiculed and disregarded by critics
  • filmed, filming
  • Shortly after -> afterwards
  • Kim Kardashian told Rogen and Franco that she and West found the video to be very funny -> Well... Kardashian revealed on twitter
  • The Hobbit, where
  • portraying Kanye and Kim -> the couple, the pair, the duo
  • According to his lawsuit, Spicer is asking that West pay him or cease and desist using his vocals. Roc-A-Fella Records, Universal Music Group, Island Def Jam, and Rhino Entertainment were also named in the lawsuit along with West. -> needs work
  • It then topped the -> is unnecessary
  • That's about all. I've gotchu watch-listed mate.--PeterGriffinTalk2Me 12:55, 26 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
