[edit]"Moldova" section confuses two different former Soviet states, Moldova and Kyrgyzstan. Akayev was the president of the latter.
Birshtein was involved in gold 'exportation' from Kyrgyzstan but this ended when the vice-president of Kyrgyzstan died in a car accident while traveling with Birshtein, in the early 1990s. His Moldovan operations lasted longer.
There are a wealth of accusations against Birshtein but I don't have sources for most of them.Joshmeister-5-0 (talk) 22:19, 11 September 2020 (UTC)

[edit]Was looking at the Tulip Revolution article, following which I went to Askar Akayev and then here. This article needs some work. Will see what I can do. MaskedSinger (talk) 18:45, 27 June 2024 (UTC)
- Just went over this. There was a lot of unsourced fluff here that I removed and added some new stuff. Truth be told, there are a bunch of allegations from old araticles swirling around him, but nothing was proven. I'm going to remove the neutrality label now.
