One of the alternative names of the cult was the Phibionites. I'm wondering whether that derives from phibi. Lisa the Sociopath 21:49, 24 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit]The Borborites are also mentioned by Michael the Syrian, and a century later by Bar Hebraeus (Chronicon Ecclesiasticum, i. 219). Michael may have got his information from Epiphanius of Salamis, but Bar Hebraeus claims to have got his from 'Abu Rahian, the wise Persian of Bairunia'. Maybe worth following up.
