Boogaloo as civil war slang

[edit]

It's a massive meme at this point, and has been around roughly about the same time since the idea of the joke Area 51 raid came out. There is absolutely no reason to not include it here. 64.222.234.38 (talk) 00:36, 1 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Just heard a brief piece on it. Here's an article from Vice. Leitmotiv (talk) 00:12, 28 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, another article is found here from ADL it looks like its part of gun rights and white supremacist slang. Malcolm1968 (talk) 06:29, 10 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Recommend we change to "A co-opted internet slang word for an upcoming civil war.", as "advocated" isn't clear whether it refers to advocating civil war, or to advocating the internet slang usage. Alternatively, we could break this into two sentences for clarity.LetUsNotLoseHearT 18:39, 13 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I changed it to clarify, although Civil War doesn't mention "Boogaloo", so per Wikipedia:DABRELATED we're technically not supposed to have it here. LetUsNotLoseHearT 23:06, 13 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
It's really not a racist or white supremacist statement. ADL is unfortunately not a as reliable or an unbiased as a source as it used to be. Monstarules (talk) 00:39, 28 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, should we just delete the sentence and recommend a separate new article? Malcolm1968 (talk) 06:46, 16 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Honestly, it should redirect to the article about the second american civil war, since that's what it's really about, and not about white supremacy. It definitely has to do with gun rights though. Monstarules (talk) 05:01, 28 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
There's a discussion in the main article's talk page about keeping the "far right" claim or not, we should remove it from here if that's the consensus on the main talk page atcp (talk) 22:44, 30 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
