Suggestions for improvement
[edit]- For an article to be rated B-class or higher it needs to have a least one reference. This is one area where the article needs work. Try to cite as much information as possible. The pitching style section definitely needs refs, as this info is not as easily checked as game logs. Look at Wikipedia:Citing sources and Wikipedia:Citation templates.
- I would suggest using a cropped version of the infobox image and just get his waist to his head. It's hard to tell what he looks like just by looking at the article. You could still include a link to the full sized version on the cropped image's description.
- It's usually not a good idea to have a trivia section, so I integrated the once piece into the article.
- I'm curious as to how he originally got the nickname - if you could find that it would be a great addition
- It's standard to include a link to a player's baseball-reference.com page. Here's Boof's [1]. When listing it in players' external links, use this template: {{baseball-reference|id=b/bonsebo01}}. I added it in for this page.
- It would be great to include more about his life outside of baseball, but I understand finding this information would be difficult.

Name
[edit]Boof Bonser is his legal name. He had it legally changed from John Paul Bonser to Boof Bonser after the 2001 season. The way it is listed now is the most sensible way to do it; his birth name is rather obscure. His legal name comes first. Thanks. Tytrain (talk) 05:49, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
- Just seeing this. And I agree with this comment. However I don't know if "John Bonser" should redirect to this Bonser over the one the boat captain. For the average reader, they'll be looking for "Boof" before they'll know his name was John at one point. I'll have to actually look, but do other celebs with nicknames/changed names have their original/real name as a redirect? - Agree. It should redirect to the other John Bonser.--brewcrewer (yada, yada) 12:43, 15 December 2010 (UTC)

I have rated this article as low. I think this is pretty straightforward, but let me know if you have any input. Tytrain 19:09, 13 April 2007 (UTC) |
