Reads like an advertisement

I can't put my finger on exactly what's causing it to read like an advertisement, but the vibe that I got while reading through it is that it's trying to pitch the product. Thus why I added the tag. It just seems like a product pitch to me... SchuminWeb (Talk) 14:35, 11 November 2006 (UTC)

--Removing advertising tag.

Who exactly do you think it is advertising to? It is the only product available to microtia patients to allow hearing. Cochlear unfortunately is the only manufacturer of this product, and it would be great if there were additional manufacturers of a bone anchored implant. My daughters BAHA breaks every 30 days, and costs$500 to repair. The surgery, if not covered is 10-20,000$. The page has existed in its basic current format for a year or so. If it looks like advertising to you, then please rewrite, rather than tagging.--Dripool 23:31, 11 November 2006 (UTC)

I recently tagged this page with an ad tag because it reads to me (and apparently, many others) like a promotion for a companies product. I was disappointed to see that it was quickly reverted by someone either involved with the company or who, for some reason, has taken it upon themselves to continually revert such tags in the past. My reason for the tag, beyond the hard-to-pin-down feeling that it reads like a brochure, is due to the entire "Models" section which includes such non-encyclopedic gems as, "Newly released in July 2005 this is the long awaited digital Baha which has a built-in directional microphone. While some people are disappointed that the digital options were not very flexible, new users are said to be very happy with it. Even though the Divino takes a while to get used to for adolescents, in the long run it has been proven to be successful for most ages" with links directly to company product pages. I added this tag (along with a watch on the article) so that I would remember to come back at a later date and modify the page to fall more in line with Wikipedia policy.

If you want to revert this, don't just say that it has "already been addressed" because as far as I see, this is the case of one overly involved editor who can't stand the idea that others have a problem with the way that this page is written. Dimaspivak (talk) 21:10, 21 February 2010 (UTC)

BAHA is a registered trademark, so where possible references should be replaced with "bone anchored hearing aid". That way it is less likely to be construed as advertising. Pgr94 10:13, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

Images

Images are from Cochlears website, and are stated as allowable for use for non - commercial use. Images are important in showing what this thing is to people who can be helped by this device. Do I need to upload pictures of my 18 month old's surgery to make it not look like an ad to you?--Dripool 23:31, 11 November 2006 (UTC)

As a baha user who is single side deaf I was very interested in the baha surgery after the accident which took my hearing. However the horrific photos of early baha surgery really scared me. This site needs to add new photos of the new small incision which is much less invasive and can easily be hidden by the patient's hair. I have such photos which I would gladly upload. See Baha Users web-site of UK for more information. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.40.249.40 (talk) 23:27, 17 September 2011 (UTC)

I have just had the surgery to implant the abutment, with the new small incision. I agree that photos of the earlier surgery are off-putting, so I have added a couple of my surgery just 4 days post op to show how neat the surgery now is. I hope that this will help reassure people considering the surgery. My experience so far has been nothing but positive. The procedure was carried out under local anaesthetic, I left hospital within 3 hours of the surgery, and the bandages were off 3 days later! No significant discomfort post op, which I think is amazing - so all good so far. (95.150.77.169 (talk) 10:43, 1 October 2011 (UTC))

Replace Entific with Cochlear Corporation?

The acquisition of Entific is no longer recent (4th March 2005). Should references to Entific be replaced with Cochlear Corporation? Pgr94 10:17, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

this vs other implants

i think that they need to compare this to other implants why do you choose this over a artificial ear you it need to be discussed —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.130.48.251 (talk) 09:49, 28 June 2010 (UTC)

Update from an expert needed.

The foundation received an email asking for the article to be updated: "The surgery today is typically done with a single vertical incision then the titaniun unit inserted. The invasive hair removal and skin removal are both precluded." -- Jeandré (talk), 2010-08-15t10:43z

I've tried to had my own experience of the BAHA (I have one in my skull) And it have been remove... Why's that. I have the same feeling than it's a self promotion page where you can't talk of the real experience of it, just the experiences that you usually find on the company website! That's a bit tricky... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.65.157.198 (talk) 02:13, 29 March 2011 (UTC)
