Perhaps a note saying that the idea of viewing surfaces as made up of infinitely many line segments, etc., is due to Archimedes (v. _The Method of Mechanical Theorems_)?Scorwin (talk) 23:15, 19 February 2010 (UTC)

[edit]Hello! I've expanded the biography section, and I intend shortly to rework the Work section to include a full list of works and more information on the contents of his books, as well as how the method was improved on by Torricelli and others. Since so much of the literature is in Italian and Latin, and particularly dense Latin at that, it's slow going. Perciv (talk) 16:29, 1 April 2020 (UTC)
I've expanded the Works section to include much more detail, but I'm working on finding some better sources than Brittanica, and I'd like to add more detail on his other books at some point. I'm not an expert, so I'd appreciate a second eye to make sure I haven't messed up badly on integrals. Perciv (talk) 22:19, 6 April 2020 (UTC)
