There's a book describing the origin of the surname
[edit][1]Bogorads of Vitebsk
some excerpts:
BOGORAD... was an acronym from the Hebrew Boh-HaRav-David, which translates "of the Rabbi ravid.".... identified this great Rabbi as David HaLevi, ... of "Tzurei Zahab", a commentary on the "Stulchan Arukh", who was better known as the "TAZ" ... Rabbi David died in Lwow in 1667. The late 16th and early 17th cenutries were the time when the surnames became commonplace. Boh-ha-Rav David becane BoHoRad, and since the Russian alphabet had no letter for "h", there are several variants of the nane. Two of those are Bohorad, and Bograd, and they stem from the same source. Many of the followers and students of the Rabbi took the surname, as well as his immediate family. bogorad (talk) 21:56, 18 August 2023 (UTC)
