Discussion
[edit]A lot of folks seem to be jumping the gun on saying that he is dead. Let's wait until he actually dies before we make that claim in this article. "Country" Bushrod Washington 23:53, 1 September 2006 (UTC)
This is supposdely offical. [[1]]KingCoder 01:28, 2 September 2006 (UTC)
- When I posted the above comment, he was alive. Sadly, that is no longer the case. "Country" Bushrod Washington 05:25, 2 September 2006 (UTC)
Current tag
[edit]With the mayor's untimely death, this ceased to be a current event, per se, so I removed the tag. The idea of a "current event" is something that may change rapidly/unexpectedly.
Our next expected news about him will be the date of his actual funeral/burial, and that change, indicating that it has occurred, should be made once it happens. It's my understanding that it's to be next Thursday 9/7/06. NickBurns 00:33, 3 September 2006 (UTC)
Okay folks, the funeral has happened. Information about it has been added to the article. We REALLY need to stop reinserting the current tag. Not to be insensitive, but generally, once someone dies and is buried, there are no further developments to report on. NickBurns 01:23, 10 September 2006 (UTC)
- Well what with the recent developments in medical science, you never know what they can pull off these days Mad Jack 17:41, 10 September 2006 (UTC)
I think that can only happen (with a Pittsburgh locale) in a George Romero movie.....NickBurns 21:11, 10 September 2006 (UTC)

Election to mayoral office
[edit]In what manner/capacity did Mayor O'Connor "preside over the Pittsburgh Steelers" Super Bowl win?' I understand this to indicate that he held office at the time of the SB win, and have edited the article accordingly. If there is something I'm missing here please correct me.
Furthermore, I don't think that this information (or most other information in this paragraph) is relevant to O'Connor's "Election to mayoral office." Thus, I have placed this info in a new subcategory called "Legacy as Mayor."
Finally, in my opinion, the Steelers' latest Super Bowl victory was only coincidental to O'Connor's tenure as Mayor, and therefore irrelevant to this section of the article. I will not delete the reference, but I have moved it to a new "trivia" category and placed a "trivia" tag on it.Yem75 12:13, 24 June 2007 (UTC)
