'Sex scandal figures'?
[edit]This article was placed in Category:Sex scandal figures. I could not find any reference to a sex scandal involving Beckel, so per Biographies of living persons, I have removed it. Please do not replace this category without a reference to reliable sources. Robofish (talk) 15:20, 10 September 2009 (UTC)

- here is the website a reliable source...http://www.aim.org/media-monitor/the-return-of-bob-beckel/ 24.124.122.252 (talk) 22:42, 11 November 2009 (UTC)
This is a well known aspect of Beckel's career that he has admitted to on numerous shows. To whitewash this is PC at the extreme. Do not remove this edit unless you can find that this did not happen.
Whoever removed the edit about Beckel's sex scandal clearly didn't much, if any, research. The incident is very well known and was highly publicized. Oddly, I see that Wikipedia is blocking links to reliable sources that detail the incident. Mr. Beckel has even more scandals in his past which a few minutes of research will reveal. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.167.112.155 (talk) 23:54, 13 July 2011 (UTC)

FYI, as of this date, there is no mention in the article now. Well known and documented, but not included now. Oh well! -- AstroU (talk) 12:01, 31 January 2016 (UTC)
NFL Career?
[edit]If Bob played in the NFL we'd want to know for what team. If he didn't, erroneous information to that effect should probably be removed.
Also, now that we know that Bob was involved in something very much like a sex scandal, shouldn't that category heading be reinstated, if you're at all honest about these things? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.76.207.39 (talk) 23:52, 27 August 2013 (UTC)
- We're not even sure he played football in college. We have only one reliable reference for that, a 1984 NYTimes article; maybe Weinraub got it wrong. AndersW (talk) 01:52, 12 June 2014 (UTC)
If Beckel played football, he was a good athlete, which would have made it even more difficult for him to have avoided the draft and Vietnam. The article should explain whether he served in the Peace Corps to avoid that (which many at the time did). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.44.238.77 (talk) 03:07, 27 December 2015 (UTC)
Neutrality of Article
[edit]The emphasis on Beckel's controversial comments and life stories, and lack of information on his overall and general political views, make this article biased against him. The fact that the entire section on his views is comprised of a single comment he made once on Karl Marx is ridiculous.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.51.221.78 (talk) 02:57, 1 June 2014 (UTC)
- It's pretty clear that Mr Beckel's politics are, in the American context, left of center. But he doesn't always adhere to Democrat orthodoxy, and frequently pops off with controversial remarks. The article could use a bit more on his political views, but the controversial utterances seem to produce more references. (In his role on The Five, he long referred to the Tea Party as the tea people. More recently, he refuses to discuss the controversy over murders in Benghazi.)

- I removed one comment because there was no verifiable source listed. This section seems reliant on the Huffington Post. I've also submitted this article for a BLP review. Basileias (talk) 13:44, 16 December 2014 (UTC)
Is Bob back on the show? I missed the old fart. He represents the Left better than anyone I can think of§. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.177.0.156 (talk) 14:48, 17 September 2015 (UTC)
- As a political operative, he is more at home over at CNN. Enjoy! -- AstroU (talk) 12:03, 31 January 2016 (UTC)

SO CALLED "RACIST" COMMENT
[edit]News reports said he called the African-American employee "black", shouldn't that information (easily linked) be included in the article? The way it is written makes it sound like he said "nigger" or "coon" or "porch-monkey" or something just above "black"-- which some might obviously assume are racist. How is "black" racist?
The answer is, he apparently objected to this black man working on the computer in his office, so he left, informing him that he was unhappy "because he was black". The issue of making a "racial comment" is not the same as making a "slur". The word he used was not "racist", but his discomfort with the man was. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 223.194.196.116 (talk) 05:10, 12 April 2018 (UTC)
