Self-promotional

[edit]

Like the article about Bob Almond's Inkwell Awards, this article has what appear to be severe issues regarding self-promotion, apparent conflict of interest, and other issues, including undue reliance on the apparent creator's own websites as sourcing. I believe User:Particletracker should recuse himself from editing this article. Its issues need to be addressed, which I, and I hope other editors, will volunteer to do when time permits. --Tenebrae (talk) 18:46, 3 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Particletracker and I have both worked to try to bring this article up to standard. Problematic were the Ook Awards, which were referenced only to their fan newsgroup; newsgroups and forums are not allowed as reference, and the Ook Awards have no Wiki article, and a Google search turns up no hits in non-misspelled English. Similarly, the Squiddy Award is linked to an article tagged for no reliable third-party sources, and in a largely unrecognized award that originates with a fan newsgroup.
The article also contained a disallowed link to a commercial sales site (a magazine subscription and ordering page), plus some lingering WP:TONE and WP:PEACOCK issues. Raw links were made into embedded links. Citation requests were added. (A GCD link should take care of those.)
There is an ongoing discussion at WikiProject Comics about consistency and formatting for comics creators bibliographies, so a non-resume version of the biblio will likely return at some nearby point. -- Tenebrae (talk) 14:57, 13 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
