Image for the article

[edit]

Does anyone have a suitable picture for this article? Patar knight 16:02, 22 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Try the creative commons, if not, try searching on Google for an old picture/lithograph/whatever, that had it's copyright expired. But make sure its PD before you upload it onto the wikimedia commons. The Userboxer 00:15, 18 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I've tried finding one, and came across a couple nice examples, but couldn't track down copyright information. I'll renew my search when I have some time. PaladinWhite 01:56, 18 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Boarding in Video Games

[edit]

The majority of this article is written from a historical/real-world perspective. The section on boarding in video games is poorly written and very limited, and it is hardly relevant in the context of the rest of this article. It should either be rewritten or deleted entirely. 68.15.226.72 21:05, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No, I think that it shows a real-world and modern connection. Deletion is not necessary, but rewriting it would be the best course to take. --Patar knight 16:47, 7 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

References

[edit]

Someone, please help me in finding references. Usually "Boarding" turns up "Boarding School" on Google, and "Piracy" results in the software variety. The UserboxerComplain/ubx 01:58, 21 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Try some books. You'll find what you want, because books are very exact with their subject. --Patar knight 17:15, 1 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There is a really good book on modern piracy called "Dangerous Waters: Modern Piracy and Terror on the high seas" by John S. Burnett. Boarding techniques are on pages 203, 227, 9, 77, 147 and 169 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 129.244.188.252 (talk) 21:23, 13 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move

[edit]
The following discussion is an archived discussion of the proposal. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the proposal was move per discussion to naval boarding to allow natural disambiguation and avoid misleading parenthetical disambiguator.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 15:51, 8 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Boarding (attack)Boarding (naval) – Not all naval boardings are an "attack" per se. The vast majority of modern boardings are police and customs actions in routine searches for contraband. It is a stretch -- and a bit insulting -- to refer to these kinds of boardings as "attacks". However, all boardings on this page are naval in nature so Boarding (naval) is a sufficient to disambiguate. Niamh (talk) 23:42, 1 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
