[edit]"namesakes that bear little obvious relationship with the original celebrity. For example, the Bo' Selecta! version of The Spice Girls' Mel B seems to be mostly aesthetically based upon out-of-work darts aficionado Jim Bowen " -No, I think it's a loose parody of Mel, sure, but a recognisable one. It is fairly easy to draw the conclusion reading interviews etc that Mel B in real life is a bit 'rough', the Bo Selecta parody reflects this sort of earthy roughness. She also has a Yorkshire accent, I think (Leeds?) which is heightened in the parody. Magic Pickle 18:33, 3 October 2006 (UTC)
I think that this article is poorly written, has few sources which back up any claims, many of these claims sound like personal interpretations or opinions, written mostly using disorganized writing which hardly looks professional. I think this article needs a complete rewrite, using comprehensive citations and sources, and written in a more depersonalized manner. (Sami)
Justification of blackface?
[edit]“Although many celebrities lampooned in the series appreciated the joke, and even appeared in the series, the series' most prominently mocked target did not enjoy the attention.“
This introductory sentence in the “Controversy” section would appear to justify the portrayal of black celebrities. I would suggest the removal/rewording of this sentence. BBMSteve (talk) 23:40, 18 December 2022 (UTC)
