The widely-used plural (Blake's Tenements) is a misnomer. A tenement is a multi-family dwelling. It refers to the building, not the units it includes. The marker below the porch (which can be clearly seen by enlarging the image I've posted to Flickr: https://www.flickr.com/photos/hunky_punk/16883624470) says "Blake Tenement." It was placed there by the County of Charleston, which owns and occupies the building, and the county officially refers to it only as the "Blake Tenement" or "Blake Tenement Building." Note also that the singular is used in the titles of the final two newspaper articles in the references. (Also note that all three newspaper article links are broken.) I add this for the information of other editors. The misnomer is so widespread that I will not presume to edit the article myself. However, as a stickler for accuracy, I would change the title and all reference to the building by name.SpencerM (talk) 14:53, 8 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
