Current Political Impact
[edit]Recently added:
- It is also been a political attempt to lure the predominantly Democratic Roman Catholic vote to the Republican Party, an endavor which has shown significant progress in the 2002 and 2004 elections.

Anti-Catholicism
[edit]An edit by Gentgeen (talk · contribs) on 04:48, 15 May 2007 added this article to the Anti-Catholicism category.
The problem I have with this is that the article doesn't say that the Blaine Amendments were passed because of Anti-Catholic sentiment or anything of that nature. There is an indirect reference to it being Anti-Catholic. -- MicahDCochran 02:06, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
Article needs rework and NPOV adjustment
[edit]For a much better treatment of the history and issues surrounding this movement see this link:
First of all, the Blaine Amendments of today are fall back laws to Mr. Blaine's original federal amendment to the US Constitution. That needs description and inclusion. The politics of the day that animated this measure were virulently anti-Catholic. TMLutas (talk) 14:26, 4 July 2011 (UTC)
