[edit]As far as I know, "blacktop" is nothing other than a term for pavement made from asphalt concrete. I am completely unaware of the usage currently mentioned in the article and suspect it might be nonsense. I think that blacktop should simply be a redirect to asphalt concrete. Comments? --Yath 09:45, 12 June 2006 (UTC)
- I also think it should be a redirect to asphalt concrete. The article, as currently written, doesn't contain much in the way of source information that justifies "blacktop" as a product related to developing countries. If there's some source information that makes a good argument for what kind of road surfaces are used in developing countries, then that would probably make a good separate article. --Elkman 15:30, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
- This article straddles the line and might be redirected either to the macadam or asphalt concrete pages, (ideally both) since the content is partially lifted from other public domain sources that reference either process (in some case word-for-word). --ccmhg 19:50, 03 July 2006 (UTC)
- I too have only heard of the usage mentioned by Yath. I think it should be redirected to asphalt concrete and not macadam, which isn't black. I've never heard anyone use blacktop to refer to macadam. In fact I've never heard anyone refer to an actual macadamised road in modern times. No one would mistake macadam for asphalt concrete, but people do use "tarmac" to refer to asphalt concrete. This is already mentioned in the asphalt concrete page, and thus doesn't need to be reiterated by redirecting blacktop anywhere else besides asphalt concrete. Balfa 13:26, 6 July 2006 (UTC)
I've changed it to a redirect to asphalt concrete. --Yath 10:05, 7 July 2006 (UTC)
