I have a number of problems with the current article that I wanted to raise first before diving in and re-editing. First thing is to clear up this confusion around Haggardstown and Blackrock. The area to the west of the old Dublin road is colloquially called "Haggardstown" probably because it hosts Haggardstown church, but is actually Haynestown/Heynestown. The townland of Haggardstown comprises most of contemporary Blackrock, including the Rock road, (old) Golf Links road etc. It's not really accurate to describe Heynestown aka "Haggardstown" as a village. It has a school and church and some houses spread out but that's about it. Unless every townland with a church or school is to be called a village, Blackrock's really the onlly vilage in the parish.
Second thing is that "dormitory suburb" doesn't really describe the relationship between Dundalk and Blackrock as the distance between is only about 5 miles (and Blackrock will probably be absorbed into "greater Dundalk" over the next decades). Plenty of people who "commute" to Dundalk can "commute" back home for lunch if they want. Plus, there is at least a bit of economic activity in Blackrock, shops etc. and some of the areas to which Blackrock-ers "commute": e.g. Coes Road, Dublin road are just as near Blackrock as they are Dundalk. Just plain old "suburb" would surely do?
Mightn't be a bad idea to mention the 15th of August alongside the tourist reference given that for at leats one day a year you get a glimpse of what Blackrock the tourist destination was like.
Also, I think Conor Hughes' Christmas fundraising events might be better described without the use of words like "caper" and "merry band" Mcgahon 10:07, 29 March 2006 (UTC)
- I dont see any major issues with what you are rasing. I to am not much on the term "dormitory suburb" , it more of a misnomer, and fairly misleading in a majorty of it uses. Othern then that i would say give it a go. --Boothy443 | trácht ar 05:53, 30 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit]I am not sure if I should include images currently available on wikimedia commons (https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Blackrock,_County_Louth) or wait for a purpose-taken image of the town. Would love some input!! ProfPixels (talk) 12:47, 1 September 2020 (UTC)
