[edit]Neutrality
[edit]I'm not too sure this is exactly a fair article on the Pleasure Beach. I don't think there's a need for the 'critisism' section, and I don't see why the first 'See Also' link is to 'Incidents in European Parks'. I know PBB have had a few incidents, but Pleasureland and Frontierland are more relevant to the prak as a whole than the incidents. It just seems like the placing of it has an anti-Pleasure Beach feel. The Critisism section is by and large unverified and seems like a list of menial gripes some people have with the park but presented as fact, and I feel that all bar the first paragraph should go.
On another note, the whole 2010 section on the timeline is unconfirmed.
I would edit it myself, but I didn't want to do anything rash, and I don't know how to get the disputed neutrality banner. JM —Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.41.194.120 (talk) 09:45, 24 July 2009 (UTC)
Photograph
[edit]How's my photograph? The sign one. A bit out of place, or not Wiki standard? Troubleshooter 23:25, 20 September 2006 (UTC)
Someone has made some silly alterations to the article which could possibly be considered minor vandalism, contained within the following section, with the alterations highlighted in bold:
"Visitor Numbers
Pleasure Beach, Blackpool attracts about 6 visitors a year.
Tickets
Entrance to the park is £10. Rides are paid for individually using donuts which are on sale throughout the park."
I have never edited an article before and am nervous about doing so. Instead, I thought it would be better if I drew this to the attention of people who have more experience of dealing with this kind of thing and will know better how to deal with it. There may also be other edits similar to this which I haven't spotted.
Cleanup
[edit]I recently did a complete cleanup of the article, removing some of the POV statements, vandalism, and making it read less like an advertisement. I think this page still needs some work, as it is basically a list of the rides. I think we should include more about the history and the significance of some of the rides. --WillMcC 18:17, 6 December 2006 (UTC)
The whole article needs some attention
[edit]Statements like "Space Invader - Closed down and re opened as Space Invader 2 due to death on the ride" are simply not true. The accident happened in 2001 - and the ride operated for two seasons after that before being refurbished.
Please only add things if you KNOW they are correct.

Commons Category added
[edit]I added "commons cat|Pleasure Beach Blackpool" to the links section so that media held on WikiMedia Commons can be accessed without having to have an image gallery.Scillystuff (talk) 14:43, 11 April 2009 (UTC)
Reorganisation
[edit]I rearranged and organised the different sub-section so hopefully you'll agree the whole article reads a lot better, even though right now there's not much new information. I've taken out the sections that had no references and were obviously POV statement or rumours. I thought it was about time it was just done rather than saying it. I dunno if I'll get around to rewriting the main problem though which is the whole of the history section which Wiki doesn't seem to like very much. fractal.scatter 14:59, 9 November 2009 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Fractal.scatter (talk • contribs)
Yeah I did do some rewriting on the history section; and as far as I know it's cleared up Wiki's problem. It just reads a little better now, hopefully you'll agree.fractal.scatter 18:44, 14 November 2009 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Fractal.scatter (talk • contribs)
Other?
[edit]Regarding the "other attractions" section, I don't believe some of these (such as Ripleys, and the Pasaje del teror) are actually officially part of the Pleasure Beach. Is it worth renaming this section as "Adjacent attractions?"--TimothyJacobson (talk) 16:10, 25 February 2010 (UTC)
Old attractions
[edit]Is there a list of attractions that no longer stand at Pleasure Beach, such as the maze opposite Alice's Wonderland? If not, I think one should be incorporated into this page--TimothyJacobson (talk) 16:10, 25 February 2010 (UTC)
There was, it was removed some time ago along with an article restructure. I agree that an old list should be included and maintained as it is completely relevant to the article. I've reintegrated this list. Although a lot of statements from this list really need citations, I think it is best to keep this list part of the main article for now and it would be great if users could attempt to add some citations in order to make the list more reliable and worthy of staying put indefinitely. Additions + edits by Leisuredaily ?
[edit]I'm not sure if the recent edits by Leisuredaily are valid ? Is Keith Allen now the General Manager ? I can't find any references to this nor has Leisuredaily cited any other text they have added. Norms360 (talk) 17:29, 12 August 2010 (UTC)
World's Largest Rocking Horse?
[edit]Questioning the use of terminology here. The Big Rocking Horse is larger, and the largest functioning rocking horse is in Japan. Can this be rephrased as it is inaccurate.
Noah's Ark
[edit]Noah's Ark isn't mentioned in attractions or former attractions... as far as I'm aware, it's standing but not operating, but I don't have any dates or anything. Can anyone else shed some light on this? TR Wolf (talk) 06:51, 4 May 2011 (UTC)
Funny Bones?
[edit]Isn't part of the movie Funny Bones set there? (Together with the Blackpool Tower Circus) Should it be included in the popular culture section? -- megA (talk) 10:01, 20 March 2012 (UTC)
Requested move
[edit]- The following discussion is an archived discussion of the proposal. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the proposal was move per request.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 02:44, 24 August 2012 (UTC)
Pleasure Beach, Blackpool → Blackpool Pleasure Beach – Move over redirect per WP:COMMONAME. The official website (www.blackpoolpleasurebeach.com)[1] is entitled Blackpool Pleasure Beach. As are most of the refs in the article. The Independent[2], the BBC[3], [4], [5], Ridemad[6]. Plus many more from GoogleNews, The Stage[7], the Daily Mail[8], Sheffield Star[9], etc[10]. Tassedethe (talk) 14:00, 16 August 2012 (UTC)
- Support: a quick Google News search supports the rationale above for WP:COMMONAME. Pleasure Beach, Blackpool does appear to be the park's official name though if you look in the footer of their website. Themeparkgc Talk 04:01, 17 August 2012 (UTC)
- Comment - the legal name of the organisation that runs the website is acutally "Blackpool Pleasure Beach Limited". MilborneOne (talk) 19:44, 21 August 2012 (UTC)
- Support per nom. Clearly the common name. -- Necrothesp (talk) 14:09, 17 August 2012 (UTC)
- Support for WP:Commoname. SLawsonIII (talk) 01:43, 21 August 2012 (UTC)
- Support clearly the common name and one usual heard when refering to the park. MilborneOne (talk) 19:38, 21 August 2012 (UTC)

Wrong Information
[edit]I'm not sure how Blackpool Pleasure Beach can have been founded after the first rides were installed so I think the dates must be wrong but the statement that the Switchback was the first rollercoaster in the UK is so very wrong. It wasn't even in the first ten. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.114.72.84 (talk) 16:20, 17 April 2013 (UTC)

Opening paragraph is contradictory of other parts
[edit]The opening paragraph states, "The park was founded in 1896 and has been owned and operated by the Thompson family since its inception."
Under "History of the Pleasure Beach", it is made clear that Bean and Outhwaite cofounded the park, owned, and operated it until 1931.
Thus, that original statement is completely contradictory of the rest of the wiki. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 0g0m019940 (talk • contribs) 00:22, 22 January 2020 (UTC)
- Article now updated with the information that the current MD is the co-founder's great-granddaughter. Barry Wom (talk) 12:40, 5 April 2020 (UTC)
Entrance and prices
[edit]I've added a small piece to the lede as I've only just seen a social media post from a family with (presumably) handicapped children (under 16 - note the park's definition of adult is "12+") on disability benefits, quoting £170 admission charge. As I haven't been for over 30 years, I had no idea the area was barrier-controlled, with, as of August 2022, a single adult charge of £44. Cost of living crisis?
I haven't trawled through the body thoroughly, so I hope it's not in there already. Placing it into section seems unnecessary as I kept it concise; therefore it would be duplication.--Rocknrollmancer (talk) 02:40, 1 September 2022 (UTC)
Page name change request and logo
[edit]Please could somebody change the page name and logo to update to follow the 2024 rebrand. It is now called Pleasure Beach Resort. This name has been used before. Previously the name was Blackpool Pleasure Beach, then they renamed to Pleasure Beach, Blackpool, then to Pleasure Beach Resort and back to Blackpool Pleasure Beach. Now they’ve reverted to Pleasure Beach Resort with this reflected in the new logo. 82.1.86.17 (talk) 21:51, 19 February 2024 (UTC)
