Speedy Deletion Contesting
[edit]Now, I know this may not be the best article, but there's no way it should be speedy deleted. Virtually everything is well-sourced and relatively well-written. It has received coverage in the media, it can just be hard to find initially because there is a Rob Zombie song of the same name that has been out for decades, and that's the only other use of the term "Black Sunshine", so that does get far more hits in places such as google, but still, the information is clearly out there.
If someone one wants to argue it's deletion, by all means put it up for AfD, and I'd be open to hear what they have to say, but I don't believe that it's so bad that there's no room for discussion, or possibility of improvement in the future... Sergecross73 msg me 14:18, 30 March 2011 (UTC)
It's not at all clear how this band might meet notability guidelines, there not even a claim of notability in the article. The band hasn't even released it's first album. The Rob Zombie song is of no relevance nor is any count of Google hits. --RadioFan (talk) 14:32, 30 March 2011 (UTC)- That was a typo, the album actually came out almost a year ago, in 2010. It's notable because it's had coverage as far as album reviews, touring info, etc from a number of third party music websites. Again, I know it's not great, but I had just gotten it started, and was hoping others would eventually contribute as well. Again, there's no way it's a "delete it without question or room for discussion" level article. In my experience, Speedy Deletions are usually handed out to fake/hoax articles that could never become anything, or by writing about a band that "someone's best friend is in in high school" or something. This isn't just some garage band, they're out there opening for bands like Hinder. (I'm not saying Hinder is great, but they are both popular and notable. And I'm not saying Hinder is notable, and thus so is Black Sunshine, I'm just establishing the type of band we're dealing with here.) Sergecross73 msg me 14:42, 30 March 2011 (UTC)
- The CSD tag has been remove the article reworded to make it clear that its guitarist has some notability and has been in some previously notable bands, That helps get us towards meeting WP:BAND #6. Notability and reference improvement tags have been added instead. This article still has issues. The reliability of many of the references used are questionable. Their opening for Hinder is interesting but reference provided there appears to be trivial. Let's give it a few days to be improved and take it to AFD otherwise.--RadioFan (talk) 14:43, 30 March 2011 (UTC)
