The Biruet test is made by combining copper sulfate solution and sodium hydroxide solution. This mixture is then added to what you want to test for protein, eg. beef stock.
The colour of the mixture if there is presence of proteins turns violet and then blue.
shouldn't it be sodium hydroxide and not potassium hyroxide? on the main page it read that you use KOH. 219.78.0.209 (talk) 07:35, 1 June 2008 (UTC)

I deleted a obscure part that mentioned something about starch in the biuret solution, which is obviously wrong.

The Buiret Test For Protein

Structural formula of the biuret complex
[edit]Hi, I added an image depicting the Biuret complex taken from the Japanese wikipedia. Now however I see that there are more structural diagrams out there, inculding these two:

I am not quite sure if the one I used is the right one. Out of these only Biuret_Test.svg seems to have a source (albeit German)
Which one do you think we should choose?
