Arrest by British military
[edit]This article should include mention of the fact that after escaping to Switzerland during the war, Dr. Mazumdar was arrested by his own military and MI5 and confined to house arrest in Montreux for four months on trumped-up charges of embezzling funds for medical equipment, due to British authorities' suspicions about his connection with Bose and contempt for Indians in general. He was also interrogated by MI5 and the War Office on his return to England, and MI5 kept a file on him as a suspected traitor or subversive. This is described in this Daily Mail article from September 2022, based on the book "Colditz: Prisoners of the Castle" by historian Ben Macintyre which cites Mazumdar's audio tape memoirs. This is a significant event in Mazumdar's life and a key fact in the story of his mistreatment by his own military. VolatileChemical (talk) 05:56, 8 June 2023 (UTC)
