Inappropriate translation?
[edit]I have not heard of this area being called the "Bird's Head" Peninsular. This strikes me as an inappropriate transaltion from the Dutch "Vogelkop". Does this English version actually exist in real use or has it just been invented? It is inappropriate totranslate place names into English where no current English name exists. - Huh? BHP is the only English name I know. What do your sources use instead? (Indonesian name means literally "Bird Peninsula" IIRC)
- In any case, where does the Dutch name come from? They couldn't see it from space back then... Dysmorodrepanis 03:04, 13 November 2007 (UTC)
- Uhm, but they had maps, you know ... --Florian Blaschke (talk) 20:38, 20 November 2011 (UTC)
