Bioparco

[edit]

Bioparco is the common name, politically correct, for zoo; so I think the article could be move to Bioparco of Rome or Bioparco (Rome), since every italian city potentially can have a bioparco. Mac9

Agreed, I had originally named the page Bioparco Rome, but it was moved. I will move it back to its intended title. - Gilliam 10:35, 5 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Bioparco II

[edit]

The text suggests, that "biopark" is a completely new concept and totally different from a classical zoo. If this is so, please inform about the actual differences, as the article withholds this information. Or can it be, that it is just a name, in no way different from any other zoo, and the text has just been translated from the it:WP, which is more or less a commercial for the Rome Zoo, and has been given no further thought? --A bougainvillea preguiçosa (talk) 13:05, 9 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I looked at the section you are referring to, and did a quick look on the Gilman Foundation Web site, but can't really figure out what "based on the principles of the Gilman Foundation" might mean, unless they are referring to a new focus on conservation (which is hardly unique among zoos). The zoo site is not any more helpful (though maybe it would be if I could actually read Italian). I've made some minor edits to get rid of peacock words and convert units, and added the current land area, but have left the questionable section alone for now. They did something in the late 1990s, and it would be good to eventually figure out what that actually entailed. As for "not given any more thought, that's probably true. I have done some work on the infrastructure of the article, but have not done any real editing, nor has anyone else since it was created. You are, of course, welcome to put some of that thought into the article if you are so inclined. Don Lammers (talk) 13:26, 11 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
