lead alphabet spam

[edit]

Artemis Andromeda, with regard to [1], [2], [3], [4]: just because there exists a Serbian Cyrillic spelling of literally every such term, that doesn't mean that adding it to the lead section of these articles is appropriate or useful to readers. In these places we're talking about, there is zero logic to adding this just because the alternate alphabet exists, because it's locally simply barely ever used, just like it would be senseless to add transliterations to Glagolitic. If we can't actually observe this usage in actual relevant sources talking about these toponyms, this becomes basically an an exercise in WP:OR. And furthermore, because this is a known contentious topic area, it's also easily seen as a flamebait. Please cease this pointless edit war. I am an involved administrator in this matter now, so I will not intervene in any such way, but you can freely ask any other admin with knowledge of the topic area, like No such user or Vanjagenije who will tell you the same. --Joy [shallot] (talk) 14:05, 15 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Absent any sort of a reply, I'm going to undo these changes again. --Joy [shallot] (talk) 18:01, 18 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, I didn't realize Vanjagenije intervened to do that already. I should note that their edit summary was imprecise - Cyrillic isn't used in those parts of Croatia. there are actually places in Croatia where it's customary to see Cyrillic place name and street name signs, but this part of inner Dalmatia simply isn't one of those places. --Joy [shallot] (talk) 13:12, 21 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
