Last Name

I have a very credible source that indicates that Billy West was known as Billy Warstein when he was playing guitar in a rock band in Boston in the early/mid 1970's. Unfortunately, this credible source is not suitable for encyclopedia citation, and of course, the source may be wrong. Does anybody have any irrefutable evidence of his actual last name?

I've never heard this, but I'm not a huge Billy West fan. Regardless, you would need some sort of citation to support the claim, as you mentioned. It's possible that he went as Billy Warstein for only the band, as well. SGreenwell 23:21, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
After doing some research, I've come across some information that is very interesting, West is not Billy's surname, Apparently it is legally Werstine. This according to the records of the California Secretary of State and New York Secretary of State for Mr.West/Werstine company West Woodlands Inc. and according to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office the trademark Billy Bastard which as I'm sure most of you know is/was a failed project of Mr. West is listed as registered and owned by William R. Westine d/b/a Billy West. Since this seems to be significant information that should be included, what is the best route that I should take to include this information properly without having my edits reverted or getting into a edit war. I can provide references but after recently experiences with editing WRXP (Formerly WFME) that some whack job will come along and accuse me of adding trivial information or worse try to label me as editing warring or a vandal. Thanks. TheGoofyGolfer (talk) 05:46, 20 January 2013 (UTC)
Yes, Billy West's actual legal name is "William Richard Werstine". Class of 1970, Roslindale High School, Roslindale (Boston), Massachusetts. https://archive.org/details/roslindalehighsc1970rosl, page 44. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 139.68.134.1 (talk) 19:49, 1 September 2015 (UTC)
I've taken the initiative and changed the information about his name adding all of the relevant and verifiable references. I do have other information that would provide verification but it would cross the line on Mr. West/Werstine's privacy. If you feel the urge to revert or edit what I have done please DISCUSS IT FIRST HERE, don't just do it because you believe your right and I'm wrong. Yes Wikipedia is not a democracy but its better to talk things out first. YborCityJohn (talk) 00:30, 6 November 2017 (UTC)
