Thought I would post this link here, and editors of this article can go for it. It may or may not be useful: Famous Players: W J Bancroft (scroll down a little bit SauliH (talk) 04:40, 10 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Personal life

[edit]

I've moved a brief sentence from the lead here. It reads: "His son was named after him and his initials have been kept in the family 'WJ Mabbett'" - Family member of Billy Bancroft This is a violation of both our No Original Research and Verifiability policies, so I thought maybe we could do some research to find anything about Bancroft's personal life that'll comply with our practises. At the moment there is nothing mentioned in the article other than that his brother Jack also played for Wales. If anyone has some verifiable information about this aspect of his life it would be great if it were added here. Then maybe we could get a "Personal life" section on Bancroft together? -- Shudde talk 04:17, 7 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I am a direct relative of Billy Bancroft so I know a lot about his family. Only problem is I don't think that's reliable AnonUser22001 (talk) 19:40, 7 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@AnonUser22001: Unfortunately that is not going to be reliable. You also have a potential conflict of interest (so we have to be a little bit careful), but you've declared quite openly what that may be, so it shouldn't be a problem. We need a reliable source to include any information. For example any books on Bancroft, Welsh rugby or Swansea may have some useful information. Any news reports on him or his descendants. These don't necessarily need to be online sources. WP:SOURCE may give you some more ideas. -- Shudde talk 07:02, 8 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Are family trees and genealogy websites good sources? AnonUser22001 (talk) 22:53, 8 July 2015

@AnonUser22001: Sorry for the delayed reply. Almost certainly not; I would be very surprised if using sources such as those didn't make this original research. We really want secondary sources. -- Shudde talk 11:18, 10 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, wouldn't this Wikipedia page count as a secondary source? What about speaking to other family members? I will try looking through others books and websites is well though. There won't be anything on his family though that's the only problem:/ — Preceding unsigned comment added by AnonUser22001 (talkcontribs) 21:30, 18 July 2015 (UTC) [reply]
