Was actual fox blood used or was it actually foxhound (a breed of domestic dog) blood which was introduced into this line? Please clarify, since the introduction of actual fox blood would require gene splicing, unlike the interbreeding of domestic dogs with wolves or coyotes, which can happen naturally since they are so genetically similar.

It must have been Foxhound. At any rate the Societe Centrale Canine (French Kennel Club)registered 1 Billy in 2008 and 15 in 2009. So the breed is on the verge of extinction in its own homeland.
