Birthplace

Sources seem contradictory over the birthplace; although this cite may provide some insight, stating that Boy was born in Austria, but grew up in New York:

But further sources are unclear about when Boy might have arrived(?) in New York; aged <1 or ages ~4. —Sladen (talk) 18:57, 20 October 2015 (UTC)
Intriguing, as the Pajdic interview links several parts together. —Sladen (talk) 19:17, 20 October 2015 (UTC)
Which in-turn the 2015 Andrew Wilson book on Alexander McQueen appears to re-quote on page 50. —Sladen (talk) 19:35, 20 October 2015 (UTC)

Occupation

Suzy Wong has raised the suggestion[1] of adding "socialite"; I haven't find direct source for "socialite", but there are several for "artist". Mdvanii/doll design/manufacture should be introduced too, but I'm unsure of wording. —Sladen (talk) 09:57, 22 October 2015 (UTC)

Not to be disparaging to Delemonites (?), but someone moving from New York, London and Paris to Delémont (pop: 12'200) probably isn't much into being a socialite. Since he created a museum, you could also call him a curator, but that'd be marginally less inaccurate. Artist seems the closest we should have, IMHO. 21:39, 22 October 2015 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Popo le Chien (talkcontribs)

Sources

Hi there,

Wikimedia CH was contacted by the artist regarding the current dispute (he does live in Switzerland). A good source for reliable, up-to-date information (even if not ideal) would be Foundation Tanagra's website, at http://www.fondationtanagra.com/en/article/about-the-founders-en

Thank you for the follow-up Popo le Chien. If you've got out-of-band contact with either the subject of the article, or Suzy Wong, this would be really useful to be able to check some of the details where the sources conflict and find out which is correct. There also a blank period for a lot of the 1990s—one of the French sources I found last night said that Boy had chosen not to give interviews for ~10 years. The other thing that Suzy Wong has brought up[2] is adding a photo; and it would be very useful to communicate what Wikipedia needs in terms of libre images for inclusion; ideally high-resolution, but if not a low-res picture and the relevant OTRS permission for inclusion if it has already been published elsewhere. I'll try and dual-source/corroborate some of the self-published Foundation Tanagra/Mdvanii material, or at least cull those "WP:RS" where there's a major discrepancy (ie. country of birth). —Sladen (talk) 12:38, 21 October 2015 (UTC)
Thanks. I'll see what I can do. Popo le Chien throw a bone 14:56, 21 October 2015 (UTC)
Here's a first bit:

"My birth place (I was Austrian and was born in Vienna and adopted by Russians and brought to the USA - I am now a Swiss citizen, living in Switzerland since the early 1990s), My caretaker in foster homes was a "beautiful Egyptian lady" - not my mother, my mother was Austrian. The place my tutor came from was Staten Island though in your article is listed as where I was in orphanage. I came from Austria before age four where I was in an number of foster homes and orphanages in Austria and then New York. My adoption was finalised age four......my height (which is 1.85 meter), and when I started my career (it depends which career, I was a model as a child though I started my true profession in 1974, not 1965)"

Popo le Chien, thanks for making the contact; I guess we can start to see beginnings of where some of the sources got their information mixed up. Page-protection will expire later today, and hopefully we can re-weave this together, building the sourced information around the framework of what what the subject of the article has clarified. Regarding French, the spoken-French on the 2011-RTS newsvideo (first one above in Talk:BillyBoy*#Residence) is too fast for me to follow with accuracy. Would you be able to take a listen and transcribe textually any useful factoids from the RTE piece? For the height, I think we can drop that completely—it was only mentioned in the 1986 source, that source appears to be wrong in at least two areas. For the subject's name, from what I understand of the Pajdic source, it's probably "Billy Zef Sh’muel Roberto Atlantide Boy", but it would be useful to have a check before we do anything with the full-name. I haven't been able to match the "Boy", up with an correct English Earl yet; several Boyle, but I haven't found the Boy yet. —Sladen (talk) 09:37, 22 October 2015 (UTC)
Not much info, the segment is very much about his collections. Only factoïds: has been living in Delémont for 30 years, wrote a book about Barbie that was translated to 14 languages. Popo le Chien throw a bone 21:42, 22 October 2015 (UTC)
