Suggestion to post this update
[edit]Hi
I wish to post this update to Virgin Galactic.
Thanks
Virgin Galactic
An article from the Business Insider reported that Virgin Galactic flew the company’s SpaceShipTwo more than 50 miles above the surface of planet Earth on December 13, 2018. https://www.businessinsider.com/spacex-blue-origin-virgin-galactic-space-tourism-2018-9 Sir Richard Branson owns the Virgin Galactic Company, space tourism company which is part of the Virgin Group (United Kingdom) and headquartered in the United States. The Virgin Space Ship (VSS Unity) was launched from a Mojave Desert airfield in California and reached an altitude of 270,000 feet. This is 11 mile short of the Karman Line which is 62 miles high. https://www.theweek.co.uk/space/98523/virgin-galactic-vs-blue-origin-vs-spacex-what-sets-the-space-tourism-firms-apart Virgin Galactic competes in the global space race with the SpaceX of Elon Musk and Blue Origin of Jeff Bezos. Branson founded Virgin Galactic in 2004. The first test of SpaceShipTwo took place in 2007 but an accident resulted in the death of three company workers. https://www.thesun.co.uk/tech/3470209/virgin-galactic-cost-fly-space-richard-branson-launch-latest/ Source: Virgin Galactic: The First Ten Years by Erik Seedhouse Springer-Praxis UK LOBOSKYJOJO (talk) 02:48, 26 December 2018 (UTC)
Paul Allen is dead
[edit]might be worth saying somewhere in the article AM Woody (talk) 12:29, 28 December 2018 (UTC)
- Someone deleted him entirely. It has been restored, since we document history, not just what happens today. -- 64.229.90.53 (talk) 11:39, 18 September 2021 (UTC)
Place of Yuri Milner on the article
[edit]I don't think Yuri Milner is significant enough to be on the article. SpaceX, Blue Origin and Virgin Galactic all have/are planning orbital rockets, and Breakthrough Starshot is simply a probe. There has also been no real funding into Breakthrough Starshot..

Public criticism
[edit]There is much criticism of this entire activity. This criticism warrants mention in this article. 24.1.67.182 (talk) 15:28, 14 July 2021 (UTC)
- Feel free to add a new section to the article. I agree that a criticism section should be added -- 64.229.90.53 (talk) 11:40, 18 September 2021 (UTC)
As of January 2024 SpaceX is the only private spaceflight company that has actually launched a payload into orbit.
[edit]Rocket Lab is a private spaceflight company, and they also launch payloads to orbit. 104.158.11.118 (talk) 20:17, 16 February 2024 (UTC)
