Conflict with WP:Charts
[edit]I understand that this magazine is a new development; if this is indeed a legitimate chart, please explain how this differs from the version of the chart with the same name that is listed at WP:Charts as a deprecated chart that is not allowed at Wikipedia. If this passes muster, please post a suggestion on the Wikipedia talk:Record charts page that the disclaimer there needs to be amended to note that it is only songs claiming to have charted there prior to the inception of this new chart that are not allowed. Please cite references in English. Thanks, Abrazame (talk) 05:59, 12 November 2009 (UTC)
- It differs simply because Brazil Hot 100/Hot100Brasil is a "non-notable chart with dubious methodology" , which used a Billboard-like name to promote charting (although as a Brazilian person I could say the charts there were reliable). Billboard Brasil, however, is an official publication by Billboard, so I think there's no doubt this is legit. The magazine has a website, I don't know yet if that page is going to keep older charts for future reference, but we can use the physical magazines just the same. Victão Lopes I hear you... 19:21, 12 November 2009 (UTC)
- Hi Victão, thanks for your response. I'm not challenging the veracity of the chart (I don't know enough about it to do so), but I am saying that in order to amend the guideline at WP:Charts that explicitly states a chart of that name is not to be trusted, we need a WP:Reliable source to cite for that absolute 180 change. If we do not amend the guideline at WP:Charts, then a lot of editors are going to be removing the presumably legitimate current and future references to that chart from article space and cite as their justification that WP:Charts guideline. As this is the English language Wiki, an English language source is what is needed to prevent that from English-speaking editors. Abrazame (talk) 19:56, 12 November 2009 (UTC)
