Bill is a catholic, and his wife calls him a Croat. What else has to be said. Rancic is a Serbian name. Are this parents from there? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.230.71.29 (talk) 21:19, 21 August 2008 (UTC) rancic is a croatian name around split ( sinj) what about his cigar business he sold and that got him on the show in the first place? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 151.201.128.156 (talk • contribs) 31 March 2006.
Indeed! And since when is writing the first "Yahoo! Apprentice Blog, to Yahoo!" considered a career milestone (let alone encyclopaediac)? To me, this entry reads more like an official press release from NBC/The Trump Organization rather than a genuine biography, but before deleting the extraneous, I thought I'd at least poll the Wikis here as to what they think should be done. This article is way beyond just being crap. Who wrote this, a ten-year old? quote: "Rancic was so jittery and nervous unlike Kwame Jackson who was laid back. But he succeeded in his task and therefore was hired." This whole article should be deleted.80.135.41.138 21:05, 23 May 2007 (UTC) what's this mean? Rancic reportedly exposed one of Gold Rush's fatal losing secrets during a boardroom session in Season 5 of The Apprentice when he chastised Bryce for being 25 minutes late for an important meeting with the Arby's executives, and Trump was surprised when Bill Rancic spilled the beans during the initial boardroom —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.89.72.154 (talk) 15:47, 9 August 2008 (UTC)
Pronunciation of "Rancic"
How do you pronounce it? This should be added to the article by someone who knows. 173.21.65.42 (talk) 03:28, 1 February 2011 (UTC)
- Regardless of how anyone else would pronounce it, Rancic himself, pronounces it "Rans-ic" and that is how the key on this article should show it as. Ts his name, he decides how it is said. Sjkoblentz (talk) 13:16, 20 November 2012 (UTC)
Why include Croatian form of Rancic's name?
I am going to remove the existing mention of the Croatian form of Rancic's name from the article. There is no indication here that Rancic is (or ever has been) widely known via any name other than "Rancic". WP:UEIA says that an article "should list all frequently used names by which its subject is widely known" — but the two cited Croatian-language sources do not, IMO, satisfy this standard. The sources say his grandfather came to the US from Croatia, and it appears that he pronounces his name in an Anglicized fashion. If anyone can cite reliable English-language sources showing that Bill Rancic has (or has had) any significant notability via the name Rančić, you are of course welcome to add this information back (along with cites to said sources). — Richwales 18:52, 20 October 2012 (UTC)
There is a discussion going on elsewhere (see Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Yugoslavia#Stana Katic and her last name) which is directly relevant to this issue. Anyone who is interested may want to read and contribute to this other discussion. — Richwales 19:41, 20 October 2012 (UTC)
- The only pronounciation of Rancic's last name should be how the subject, himself, pronounces it. It is his name, his right to make that definition. It is not the role of Wikipedia, or Wikipedians, to redefine how the person themselves uses, says or otherwise speaks their own name. It should also not be the role of Wikipedia to subjectively redefine or take ownership of a persons identity. nthe only time this should be employed is if the person themselves has changed a pronounciation with specific puropose, for example, simplification, unless it is pertinent to the verifiable facts and pertinent facts on the article.
