Safety & Speed
[edit]The opposition as bikeways may not be conducive to a broad spectrum of forms of riding & types of riders also factors as an argument against aspects of 'Complete Streets'. Even though the concept is to make the roads safe for everyone, it does so by aiming for the slowest possible speed & by making the roads less safe in order to gain compliance to that. The goal is laudable, accessibility, yet, the means is horrible & perverse, pleasantness through unpleasantness. Very Orwellian. It is also very dangerous. For example, using Stop signs where they should not be used causes Stop signs to be less effective, which is a danger to the public. So, it has the exact opposite effect that is desires. - I think you're mixing up the general concept of Complete Streets and Shared space, but even then it's a very opinionated idea of Shared Space that wouldn't fit into Wikipedia and are definitely not a part of this article on bikeway controversies. You could do some research and edit the Shared Space article. Nubeli (talk) 14:06, 17 August 2015 (UTC)
