Contested deletion

[edit]

This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because... The Big Orange Chorus is a chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society. The chorus is currently ranked 18th in the world in the genre of barbershop music. The chorus competes on a near yearly basis against top-ranked choruses from around the world.

Many other choruses currently have Wikipedia pages including the Ambassadors of Harmony, Masters of Harmony, Vocal Majority and others. The chorus would like to join the ranks of other Barbershop Harmony choruses who utilize Wikipedia as a means of recording a living history of how their chorus makes contributions to the world of music and the world of Barbershop harmony.Bazinwanga (talk) 19:56, 3 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Contested Deletion

Please do not delete - this chorus is an innovator in an important musical category/genre which is dedicated to the preservation of male a cappella harmony singing in the barbershop style. Their use of technology and innovative teaching and vocal training techniques to advance and preserve their art form make this article very worthwhile. They are also under the leadership of a world-renowned director, which also makes this an article of interest to musicians and musical historians alike.
