Areas ?

[edit]
  • For Big Diomede : The rocky tuya-type island has an area of about 29 square km (11 square miles)
  • For Little Diomede : a total area of 7.356 km²

But as seen at the photo, Big Diomede is something like 3 times bigger than Little Diomede...

See Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style#Decimal_points. 7.356 = 7,356 in other countries. Perhaps it would be better to use just 1 or 2 numbers behind the dot here. --Hardscarf (talk) 13:15, 23 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Wrong title

[edit]

The Russian name for this island is Ratmanov (ru:Остров Ратманова) and not Big Diomede. 'Острова Диомида' (ru:Острова Диомида) means Diomede Islands. --Hardscarf (talk) 13:06, 23 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article title is in English, not in Russian. /Grillo (talk) 23:36, 30 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Two fields required in the infobox

[edit]
{{Infobox islands
| name             = Big Diomede
| local name       = {{lang-ru|остров Ратманова}}
| native name      = [[Inupiaq language|Inupiaq]]
}}

In Big Diomede two fields are trequired in order to accomodate both the Russian name and the Inupiaq language name. See truncated infobox. Peter Horn User talk 03:04, 11 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

How about putting them both in "local name"? Like this? Plastikspork ―Œ(talk) 03:35, 11 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Whatever does the trick is OK. I'll keep this in mind for other Russian islands as the occasion arises. Peter Horn User talk 16:05, 11 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The population of this island is not zero

Crashed plane

[edit]

There's a crashed plane on the island, visible on Google Maps here and here: 65°46′42″N 169°04′00″W / 65.778313°N 169.066755°W / 65.778313; -169.066755. More information here. Source for my curiosity was Quora. HTH HAND Phil | Talk 14:20, 12 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
