Bids for the 2016 Summer Olympics — task force

[edit]

As the bidding process for the 2016 Summer Olympics and the 2016 Summer Paralympics was concluded, I would like to ask a task force to make Bids for the 2016 Summer Olympics a Featured topic. It involves eight articles divided in four categories (1 overview article, 1 host city article, 3 candidate city articles, and 3 applicant city articles) according to its format and amount of information provided in the internet. Three existing articles (1 aspirant city article and 2 postulant city articles) will not be include in the topic as they are unrecognized bids by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). The main goal is to get those articles to achieve the criteria of a Featured article. However, this should be a gradual process achieving each quality level until the highest.

Current situation
Article Category Quality Importance
Bids for the 2016 Summer Olympics Overview B  Top
Baku bid for the 2016 Summer Olympics Applicant city Start  Low
Chicago bid for the 2016 Summer Olympics Candidate city  GA  Mid
Doha bid for the 2016 Summer Olympics Applicant city Start  Low
Madrid bid for the 2016 Summer Olympics Candidate city C  Mid
Prague bid for the 2016 Summer Olympics Applicant city Start  Low
Rio de Janeiro bid for the 2016 Summer Olympics Host city  A  High
Tokyo bid for the 2016 Summer Olympics Candidate city C  Mid

Dubai bid for the 2016 Summer Olympics, Los Angeles bid for the 2016 Summer Olympics and San Francisco bid for the 2016 Summer Olympics will not be included in the topic, as stated above.

For an efficient standardization of the articles, structure schemas were created for each category, meeting the quality requirements and providing the best format of organization to the reader. The host city category was created due to the larger amount of information and sources (The Rio de Janeiro bid committee website is still working, while the websites of the other candidatures were closed). Those schemas can be found in each talk page of the articles (You can see here: Baku, Chicago, Doha, Madrid, Prague, Rio de Janeiro and Tokyo). The overview article do not have a scheme yet. Rio de Janeiro bid for the 2016 Summer Olympics is a current Featured article candidate and is open for reviews. Olympics Barnstars will be awarded to the most significant contributors.
