Critiques

[edit]

I suggest including text about the gradual decline of Bicycling!, starting in the 1990s, as Rodale started reviewing only expensive bicycles and stopped including contructively negative remarks about them. (I myself do not have time right now to find reputable sources for this, but such critques are very widespread, and often snarky, in the blogsphere. Maybe someday, or maybe some other more energetic Wikipedia editor?) Also Rodale's 1980 purchase and closing of the excellent Bike World, without increasing the content of Bicycling!, effectively reduced the available quantity of useful periodical material on bikes and biking, and shut out several excellent knowledgeable writers. (At the time, I was susbscribing to both, in addition to the magazine of the League of American Bicyclists (called League of Wheelmen back then), which back then also included technical articles.)
