Trivia Correction
[edit]The trivia on the confusion needed to be corrected itself, it seemed to imply at first read that the incorrect lyrics were the proper, so I switched the wording to be more suited. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.142.130.20 (talk) 06:16, 2 May 2006 (UTC)
Album cover
[edit]The one with the bicycle race is the most appropriate as it was the most notable at the time. --evrik (talk) 16:43, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
- NO it was not.— miketm - Queen WikiProject - 17:04, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
- Where do you draw your conclusion? --evrik (talk) 17:07, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
- If a UK cover is available it should be used. (Because Queen is from the UK)— miketm - Queen WikiProject - 17:22, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
- Where do you draw your conclusion? --evrik (talk) 17:07, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
- That is specious reasoning. That's like saying, they sold more records in the U.S. (which they did) so we should use that cover. This is just another part of your edit war. --evrik (talk) 17:35, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
- The reason I used the UK cover is because it was also used for numerous other European countries.— miketm - Queen WikiProject - 18:59, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
- specious? What country is the cover you want to use from? And this is not an edit war, I was simply replacing a unsourced image. — miketm - Queen WikiProject - 17:40, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
- It doesn't matter what country, and you did start an edit war, probably violated 3RR and removed the tag from an image nominated for deletion. --evrik (talk) 18:26, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
- If it doesn't matter then why are you so persistent on using a cover that not many people will recognize and that does not represent "Fat Bottomed Girls"?— miketm - Queen WikiProject - 18:42, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
- I said it doens't matter what country. I did say earlier that it is a good image as a reference because it also represents the alum art which was included with the LP. --evrik (talk) 18:47, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
- OK, but neither Image:Queen Bicycle Race2.png or Image:Bicycle fat.jpg (the back cover) should be used in the infobox.— miketm - Queen WikiProject - 18:54, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
- Include them in the gallery that you deleted. --evrik (talk) 19:02, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
- The reason I removed the gallery is because the images did not have any sources.— miketm - Queen WikiProject - 19:05, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
- They all have sources, and you could have added sources yourself if you had wanted rather than upload a new image. --evrik (talk) 19:09, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
- Image:Queen Bicycle Race1.png did not have a source until you took the source from Image:Queen Bicycle Race.png.— miketm - Queen WikiProject - 19:14, 4 April 2007 (UTC)

If two covers were used they should both be shown. Danceswithzerglings (talk) 06:41, 5 December 2009 (UTC)
- Do we know the identity of the chubby girl in the cover photograph? Danceswithzerglings (talk) 05:42, 6 December 2009 (UTC)
- @Aquegg: there was an extended discussion years ago. --evrik (talk) 19:15, 23 February 2019 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Bicycle fat.jpg
[edit]Image:Bicycle fat.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 01:27, 1 June 2007 (UTC)
LSD
[edit]Isn`t the song about LSD? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LSD#Bicycle_day — Preceding unsigned comment added by Naat~enwiki (talk • contribs) 10:52, 25 March 2009 (UTC)
The song is full of humorous political and cultural references which should probably be mentioned Danceswithzerglings (talk) 06:41, 5 December 2009 (UTC)
- Yep, this song is absolutely about LSD. "I don't believe in Peter Pan / Frankenstein or Superman / All I wanna do is / [Bicyle race] [...] So forget all your duties oh yeah!". Hallucinations (not just lyrics, check the video), apathy, euphory - this song got everything. Plus the bicycle day thing, which kindo rhymes on bicycle race. But we can't just interpretate this here, we need a serious source. Find one and it's all fine. --Johpick (talk) 21:08, 22 April 2013 (UTC)
So what's the song about?
[edit]Just curious this song is about. It has a lot of pop culture references from the day. --70.167.58.6 (talk) 21:25, 22 April 2009 (UTC)
"I want to ride my bicycle"
[edit]There should probably be a redirect from "I want to ride my bicycle" to here or something, because that's what I thought the song was called and probably what anyone who isn't a queen fan would think the song was called. 118.208.140.3 (talk) 14:01, 27 July 2009 (UTC)
I agreed with this comment, that is how I searched for it as well and found nothing. I had to look through each Queen Album until I found it. I'm a queen fan but not a hardcore one (In other words I Just listen to them on the radio and enjoy their songs but don't go out of my way to research them normally) A redirect from "I want to ride my bicycle" would probably help a lot of people out, I would do it if I knew how ;) Also my wife has stated that it is a well known fact that "I want to ride my bicycle" was Mercury’s way of saying he wanted to be gay openly in public and "ride his bicycle" which she states is another way to say make love to a male Has ANYONE else ever heard this?!!? I think she is insane and I can't find any reference to it any where on the internets. 205.145.64.64 (talk) 22:44, 27 August 2009 (UTC)Serondal
Hi. I just added a redirect at I want to ride my bicycle. Click here to see how it's done. Danceswithzerglings (talk) 07:56, 5 December 2009 (UTC)
Relevant information removed
[edit]There used to be a lot of perfectly relevant information in this article. Why remove it? I cannot be arsed to take the time to reinstate it for you people to hack it back to nothing again for reasons only known to yourselves. Decampos (talk) 23:49, 26 October 2010 (UTC)
Bicycle Euphemism
[edit]A "Bike" or "Village bicycle" is common British slang for a woman who sleeps around a lot, and from my own anecdotal experience, is what the song is generally believed to refer to. Unfortunately, I can't find any specific sources to back this up - probably because the euphemism was lost on the dominating American media.
