Workplan
[edit]Hello, I'm a 4th year medical student at UCF College of Medicine. As part of the WikiProject course that I'm enrolled in, I will contribute to this article over the next four weeks as follows:
- Edit the article for organization, flow, and additional information
- A Pubmed search for "(biceps tendon rupture) NOT (femoris)" with filters applied: Books and Documents, Meta-Analysis, Review, Systematic Review, in the last 5 years, English.) yielded 72 results
- Review references and update citations using primary secondary sources and textbooks
- Embed associated links to other Wikipedia articles
- Add an image to illustrate the anatomy of this condition. If appropriate, I will potentially add video demonstrating the mechanism of injury
- Update the "Lead" section with more background information
- Update the "Signs and Symptoms" section to add clinical features to the currently listed "Popeye's deformity"
- Update the "Causes" section to include that mixed-grip deadlifts and preacher curls are common exercises that fit the current description for the mechanism of injury. Expand on other causes and include risk factors in this section
- Add a "Diagnostics" section on physical exam maneuvers and imaging
- Review and reduce medical jargon where appropriate
This is my current workplan and I hope to meet the majority of the listed goals within the next four weeks. If there are any changes to my plan based on the information I gather, I will post those to this page.
I am receptive to feedback to further the quality of this article, so please let me know if I can make any changes to improve this page!
Thank you,

- This injury is not specific to the sports industry. The injury of a full ruptured bicep tendon can occur in a fall. 2604:2D80:8F07:C500:6096:C91F:A797:5108 (talk) 15:36, 13 October 2024 (UTC)
Week 2 (Workplan)
[edit]I've added images with comments, revised sections for content and organization (lead, signs and symptoms, and causes), added hyperlinks to other wikipedia articles, and added new citations. I've continued my PubMed searches and narrowed down the articles that are appropriate for use.
Next I'll work on updating the diagnosis section (added heading) and prognosis section (added heading). I've reviewed references for these and will think about how to organize them for ease of understanding.
Thank you, please let me know of any feedback to further the quality of this article. Med2023 (talk) 05:36, 19 January 2023 (UTC)
