The Geonames database ( http://geonames.nga.mil/ggmagaz/geonames4.asp ) list this as Bāvanapādu. I just came across a work published in 1977 by India's Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation which list it as Bavanapadu, but this was in all capital letters, and diacritics are often left out of capital letters in older manuscripts.
