linkless

[edit]

I have wikified this page, and tried to link it to relevant articles. Mattisse 22:56, 27 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Buddist Stupa location

[edit]

The words "chinna lanja dibba" have profane meaning and looks like spam. The citation given there does not give those names. It might be the case that that is real name, but can we atleast remove the citation? Mlpkr 12:56, 14 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Clarification

[edit]

It is not spam. 'Lanja' in Telugu language means Prostitute. When Buddism fell out of favour (around 6th century AD) the people ascribed such names to Buddhist monasteries and stupas. The usage of the names continues till today.

In response to your question on my talk page, I was wikifying articles in the backlogged "To Do List" section last August. Bhattiprolu was there. I tried to wikify this article to help out and spent a considerable amount of energy trying to find reference citations and help the article out. The words you refer to were already there: [1] and were not put there by me. I have no idea what they mean. I was trying to do my best. Sorry if I did something wrong. I have now learned not to try to improve India articles. I removed the citations I added to the page that you are objecting to. Sorry to have upset you. Sincerely, --Mattisse 13:28, 14 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
No, please try to improve. These are exceptional cases. Mlpkr 17:17, 14 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Bhattiprolu script

[edit]

See Talk:Telugu language#early epigraphy. Also, according to Bhattiprolu alphabet, that alphabet is a variant of Brahmi, not a progenitor. --Florian Blaschke (talk) 13:00, 30 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
