Sundar: I added back the "the most respected linguist of his generation" phrase. To become a Corresponding Fellow of the prestigious Royal Soceity of Edinburgh, and an honorary member of the Linguistic Society of America is a big deal indeed. See the "book description" in The Dravidian Languages for Dravidianist usage. Varttik (talk) 22:56, 13 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I don't disagee with what I believe to be your intention; specifically, to emphasize the seminal nature of Professor Krishnamurti's work in the field of Dravidian linguistics. I'd just rather we not resort, with all due respect, to hyperbole. The late Professor Krishnamurti doesn't need our effusive praise- I don't think that's wikipedia's mission statement and even if it was, I believe his publications speak volumes more (no pun intended) towards such an end than any of us could anyways. Rather, let's focus on having the ridiculous "stub class", "low importance" tags dissociated from the article. This is one of the better articles on Indian linguistics generally, and among the best articles on linguists from the subcontinent, specifically (in the interest of full disclosure, I contributed, very marginally, with some cosmetic changes and "wikification". The substantiative work required in writing this article is beyond the scope of my understanding. And even though I'm addicted to wikipedia, I'm not a linguist.) Again, I say this because I feel a sense of urgency to have this scholar's story AND his work available for an audience that may not otherwise have such an opportunity...people like me. Thanks. Please go ahead and make any changes you feel appropriate to get those tags removed from this article. -- Varttik (talk) 18:27, 20 August 2012 (UTC).[reply]
