Who is Betty Skelton married to/where does she live?
[edit]An earlier version said:
- Married to Don Frankman, she now resides in Winter Haven, Florida.
Later it was changed to read:
- Married to Allan Erde, she now resides in Vero Beach, Florida.
Which is it? I can find no evidence that she ever married an Allan Erde; her 1999 oral history interview only mentions Frankman. --A. B. 00:13, 25 June 2006 (UTC)
Don Frankman died in 2001 or 2002. Betty married Alan Erde and moved to Vero Beach. I will try and gather accurate dates and citations and repost. The present wording in the article is correct. I saw Betty and Alan at the Women in Aviation Conference in Orlando in Febrary, 2007 and she looked well. 69.72.2.72 22:50, 31 March 2007 (UTC)

Copyright problems
[edit]This article needs to be rewritten, as it takes too liberally from other sources, both literal duplication and close paraphrasing.
For a few examples, compare text from the article this source:
- "...played with model airplanes, not dolls. At the age of eight...began teaching the entire family to fly."
And compare to this source:
- "She received her commercial rating...in Tampa."
- "She first started aerobatic...local amateur airshow."
- "She bought her own aircraft...exhibition team, the Blue Angels."
To this source (+ [1]):
- "During her teenage years, Betty flew...during the day."
- "She mastered dozens of tricks...off the ground."
- "In 1948, she bought a rare Pitts Special...beautiful woman in a male-dominated world of death-defying stunts."
- "climbed into a Dodge sedan...discovered her second passion."
- "raced across the South American...proving grounds in Michigan."
- "set records with Corvettes, owning 10 in all."
- "They retired in the 1970s...a retired Navy surgeon"
There are likely to be other passages within these and other sources, but I believe this is ample enough to require a complete rewrite. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 13:07, 26 October 2009 (UTC)

- Have you checked to see if the article can be reverted to this revision? I know it's a great loss of content, but it looks a lot cleaner than nothing. She's definitely notable enough and needs an article. Royalbroil 23:59, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
- Hi. Sorry for the delay in response. This tag is frequently used just to give contributors a chance to preserve content prior to the restoration of last clean. (This often seems more courteous to all contributors when a lot of work has gone into an article that simply tossing it all aside.) In this case, there is a new version that is at this very moment being evaluated. Should it prove usable, it will be merged with that older history and the article restored to publication very soon. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 15:41, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
- Looks good, thanks to everyone for spending the time to fix this correctly! Royalbroil 02:13, 5 November 2009 (UTC)

Betty Skelton Erde → Betty Skelton – I just closed Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2016 December 19#Erde as retarget to Betty Skelton Erde, but now that I've actually read the article and analysed the sources, I believe she was most commonly known simply as Betty Skelton. The vast majority of the sources use "Betty Skelton" as her name. Seeing as she married Dr. Erde late in her 70's, long after her time in the spotlight faded, I doubt many people know her by that name. From the article, it seems even her first marriage in 1965 was after much of her fame. -- Tavix (talk) 03:14, 31 December 2016 (UTC)
