- ... that when Margaret Hamilton refused to ride the Wicked Witch's smoke-spewing broomstick in The Wizard of Oz, her stunt double Betty Danko took over ... and it exploded on her? Source: "After my 'fire' incident, I decided I wasn't going to do any more life-threatening stunts" (American Classic Screen Interviews); "the third time she pushed the button, the pipe exploded" (The Making of the Wizard of Oz)
- ALT1: ... that stuntwoman Betty Danko earned $35 for riding the Wicked Witch's smoke-spewing broomstick in the 1939 film The Wizard of Oz ... and was hospitalized for eleven days after it exploded on her?

- Article is new enough (created August 24), long enough (> 5,000 characters of text), is neutrally written, and cites sources with inline citations. My spot-checking found no evidence of copyvio, plagiarism, or unduly close paraphrasing issues, or copyright violations. Both hooks are short enough (175-180 characters) and are interesting to a broad audience. Both hook facts are accurate (per the cited sources) and supported by inline citations. DYK completed. I find that alt 1 hook a bit more interesting, but both are acceptable, and I leave it to the person building the queue to choose between them. Cbl62 (talk) 02:21, 25 August 2020 (UTC)
