Betondorp is not the backdrop for Gerard Reve's "The Evenings", de Avonden.

[edit]

I propose to remove the following reference from the Betondorp article:

Another Betondorp native is writer Gerard Reve who based the setting of his novel The Evenings on Betondorp.

This reference is inaccurate, as the setting of the novel is actually the Diamantbuurt, not Betondorp. The Diamantbuurt is a neighborhood in Amsterdam that is located several kilometers from Betondorp. Gerard Reve was born in Betondorp, but he moved to the Diamantbuurt in 1938. The Jozef Israelskade 415 (old numbering 116-I) is the fictional "Schilderskade 66" in the book.

I have found the following sources that support this claim:

Amsterdam City Archives: https://www.amsterdam.nl/stadsarchief/stukken/amsterdammers/avonden/ Wikipedia article on Gerard Reve: https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gerard_Reve Wikipedia article on the Diamantbuurt: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diamantbuurt_(Amsterdam) I believe that this change would improve the accuracy of the Betondorp article.
