[edit]I propose changing "the original name for Jakarta" with "the colonial name for Jakarta". Batavia was founded on the site of Jayakarta, of which Jakarta is a shortened form. Jayakarta itself was previously called Sunda Kelapa (or Sunda Kalapa) and received the name Jayakarta after a (precolonial) military victory. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 132.229.193.5 (talk • contribs)
