Ownership of the Rovers Return
[edit]Can I just point out that until 1995 the Rovers was owned by Newton & Ridley, not the licensees. This article speaks as if Annie Walker owned the pub, which she never did, and that Bet owned it between 1985-1995. This is the practice of many brewery-owned pubs in the UK, where the landlord or landlady is simply a tenant. The premise of Bet's departure storyline was that the brewery intended to sell the pub, but Bet couldn't afford the asking price. I have edited the article accordingly. Betty Turpin owned the Rovers Return after Annie Walker. Annie left it to her in her will. This was established on screen in 2012.
2002 return and departure
[edit]This article does not say how Bet's sudden disappearance was explained in the show's storyline. I saw her return but not her departure, so I don't know. Melbn 08:02, 27 September 2007 (UTC)
1999 return
[edit]Bet didn't, as such, return to Coronation Street in 1999, she returned in a spin-off. I have seen promos for the spin-off on YouTube and it is marketed as just 'Coronation Street', but doesn't mean it's part of the normal number of episodes. Boushenheiser (talk) 12:09, 30 March 2013 (UTC)
