[edit]The band Best Coast is definitely a notable band. They have released several EPs which have gained a great deal of attention, and they are mentioned on the Wikipedia page about the subgenre Chillwave as one of the main acts. this band is constantly featured on popular Indie media outlet PITCHFORK and has generated a lot of buzz in the surf-pop chillwave spheres. Washed Out and other chillwave acts have wiki pages so Best Coast should as well. They are a very legitimate musical group, not some random local kids. They're signed to a popular indie label Mexican Summer, and I'm a big fan of their music along with a lot of other people I know, they're definitely notable enough to be on Wikipedia.
- Hi, 1down1up, you need to show how this band is notable by including references from reliable, third-party sources. Blogs, journals, social networks (Facebook, Myspace, Twitter etc), 'official homepages', amateur or self-written homepages aren't usually considered acceptable sources. Thanks, Baffle gab1978 (talk) 23:39, 3 July 2010 (UTC)
Thanks. I just put up a bunch of references for all of the descriptions, releases, popularity, etc. I have about 5 or 6 footnotes from Pitchfork's interviews/best of -lists, as well as Discog sites, and the website of their record label, i didn't use any personally written blogs or anything. Should I put more stuff up, or is that enough to be called notable? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 1down1up (talk • contribs) 00:01, 4 July 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks for adding your references. I've found article in The Guardian's website and am adding this to the article, which will help with notability s lot. Thanks, Baffle gab1978 (talk) 12:49, 4 July 2010 (UTC)
Oh awesome. When does the speedy deletion tag get removed from the page? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 1down1up (talk • contribs) 20:31, 4 July 2010 (UTC)
- I've removed the speedy deletion tag. Please continue to add further sources to help establish Best Coast's notability. Good luck. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 21:06, 4 July 2010 (UTC)
Cleaned up
[edit]I cleaned up, corrected, and expanded the article. Much thanks for taking the time to start this thing; Best Coast is one of the best acts around today. I noted that the band is actually (officially) a duo; the band only performs as a trio or quartet live (due to the fact that they lack a bassist or drummer; Cosentino and Bruno play those on the recordings). In addition, I have also contacted band management for an available photo for the article. --S-man (talk) 01:56, 5 July 2010 (UTC)
