- Probably would not be a noteable person if not for the HAARP controversy. Eastlund appears to have been something of a crank, with unsubstantiated claims to have solved the problem of fusion power, profiteering from pseudo-scientific publications about HAARP, etc.
I knew and worked with Ben Eastlund over a period of at least 10 years. He was a brilliant creative physicist and was not a crank. He developed a electrodless UV lamp driven by microwaves that is used in UV curing. The first system was installed at Coors for beer cans.
